Mommabean, thanks. If you liked Baladi, try to listen to Dalida sing (Je Suis Malade). It's very touching, and she sings it with a lot of feeling.

Hani, man, who'd have thought you have such good taste in music?! Great list. I can't love some of them, but that's what makes personal taste personal, I suppose. Glad to see Dalida on that list, El 3atal played me her haunting Baladi and I love that song! What a song...

Thanks for sharing.

Summer, I'm glad you liked it.

Bryan Adams came to Amman not long ago, but I missed that concert. Summer of 69 is nice because it rocks but it's still sentimental in a way. My favorite song of Bryan's is let's make a night, and on the corny love ballad side Everything I Do. There was a saying in Canada (Good Girls Listen to Bryan Adams) :)

I didn't realize Queen perform without Freddy.

You missed Sinatra ya Noura, Old Blue Eyes is right above Fairuz in the top 26. The bottom table is the bottom 74!

lol, No not for her singing. You caught me :P

Yeah I don't speak Spanish either but the Gypsy Kings sound lovely with their thick voices, and the guitar work and all.

I speak French to a degree, and you'll see a few strictly French singers up there: Mylene Farmer, Marie Chantal Toupin, and Gabrielle Destroismaisons, and a couple more who sing in French and other languages Celine Dion, and Dalida.

My songs aren't restricted to those 100, these are only the ones I would like to see Live!

Good to see "Gypsy kings" on your list, they were performing 4months ago here in Tampa, but didn't get a chance to see them..I don't understand the language but they are my favorite..
I like Clapton especially the songs when he was performing with the band "Cream"..I have the CD of their last reunion,it's beautiful :)
Not a fan of french music ??

Ali Welcome. By today's standards my tastes are kinda corny/outdated, so I'd be surprised to find many who share it, but to each his own.

While we're on the subject I was actually shocked to find out that:
A. Jordan actually has a metal band!
B. I go to work with one of the guitarists!

The band is called bilocate, and they're about to release their second album. More here:

Nice topic, although I don't share your taste of music, well except the classical music. I am a metal fan and consider the "creepy" voice more like "awesome" :p

Mab3oos Kazem has a great voice, but somehow he doesn't transmit the emotions so well to me in Fusha. I liked (Hal 3andki shak), and (Hafiyata al-kadamayn).

Rasha The first song I heard for queen was (Bohemian Rhapsody). I was hooked from then on. Thank you for the kind words.

Abed I started getting more Arabic music when I moved to Amman, mostly old stuff though. The music video clip obsession is wasting a lot of the new talent.

KJ Yeah it's a shame about Jewel. I think she was trying to reinvent herself, but she was great to begin with, why mess with a good thing.

Sabeur Don't be too impressed my friend, I had to lookup some of the facts and years as I wrote the post. I probably heard George Wassouf only a couple of times, I wouldn't mind hearing some more although I don't think I'd quite wanna see him in concert.

LW I think at one point I got an Oasis CD, and I didn't like any of the songs. Which songs do you recommend ?

Thanks for the sticker, I'll wear it with pride :)

True he had a lot of them swooning, but I'd imagine it was more about his wonderful voice. It's too bad the recording technology wasn't so great in those days. A lot of Halim concerts are low quality especially since they're live.

Hareega, absolutely I am.

Aside from (All for Love) which he sings with Bryan Adams and Sting, my favorite Rod Stewart song is (You're in My heart).

I saw him on Oprah once, he seemed kinda shy in person, that's probably why he doesn't work the crowd up-close.

wow, you ARE a big music fan, especially English. Aside from Halim and Fairouz, Majida, I really never got into English language music. I even don't listen to contemporary Arabic music either. It is too commercialized. However, I did not see Kazem El Saher on your list! Whats up with that?

looks like you're a big music fan. Rod Stweart came to my city last year, i only knew a few of his songs and tickets were really expensive so i didn't go, but i now regret it , his legacy is incomparable to most other songers living today.

My friend once went to one of his concerts in Miami, and he told me that Stewart doesn't talk to the fans in the conert, he jusy shows , sings, and leaves. Doesn't even say thank you !
