A lot of new laptops come with fingerprint readers. They let you authenticate without a password not only to logon to your machine, but also to websites like gmail, hotmail, etc… My sister Mona got such a laptop, a Sony Vaio, and I was setting it up for her.
Hani: See the picture with the 10 fingers, click on any finger, and then swipe that finger on the reader 3 times.
(Mona clicks on the right index finger icon, and swipes that finger on the reader. She is about to click Finish)
Hani: Hold on, do another finger, you could have a horrible accident and lose that one.
Mona: (scoffs) yeah, right ! (clicks Finish)
Sony Vaio: Warning: In case of injury, you may want to authenticate more than one fingerprint.
Hani: Hahaahahaahahaaha ! (declaring victory)
(Mona smiles, shakes her head, and swipes her left index finger on the reader)
Hani: You know this is cool, you can have 10 people authenticate as the same user, each one can use a different finger.
Hmm, Given a choice of thumb, index, middle, ring, and little fingers; I wonder who would pick the middle finger ? What is worse the left middle finger or the right middle finger ? and who asks such questions ?

Right or left middle it doesn’t matter, it is a big no no for me, what if you are using the computer in public and it might become a habit..
I had once a teacher here who used her middle finger to point at the board and to our mistakes.. Her class was a joke, the kids always came up with questions to make her use it..

Hmm, well its not really a problem, since the swiping is quite quick and nobody cares to look at your fingers :D

Chika, go for it, that will teach them :D
Noura, that’s hilarious, someone should tell the poor teacher in private for her own good.
Khaled, yeah not only is it fast, if you keep all fingers extended when you swipe the middle one, no one will notice !

Wonders, There’s a security policy enabled by default such that no remote logins are allowed on accounts with a default (blank) password. So no worries provided you don’t mind your mom or brother logging into your laptop :)

lol..what’s next?
imagine if they start introducing laptops with retina scan for authenticity. Now that’ll be something with people sticking their eyes to the laptop. :P

Well at some point your ID, Passport, Driver’s license, Medical Information, Internet access, and GPS tracking will be put on a little bio-chip. Everybody will have to get one. It will be a serious crime to remove it and everyone will be locatable down to 1 cm. I will even venture to predict a fatwa from al-azhar supporting the biochip !
