The Spartan Singles Diet

September 16th, 2007
Health

It all adds up to 900 cals (500 if you go for the English variation).
As alway, please consult your Mom, doctor, or astrologer before embarking on any life changing (or ending) steps. Muhahaha !
Breakfast 8-9AM
: Two cups Elle & Vire Light 0% Fruit Yogurt, pick the flavor you like (100 cals.):
Yogurt I can’t have yogurt unless there’s real fruit inside.

Late Lunch 5-7PM (670 Cals total): Instant Tuna Salad. This recipe was taught to me by my dear sister Mona. Of course incorprating it into a brutal diet was my brilliant idea.

Ingredients:
1. One Can of Tuna in Water (<200 cals.):
Tuna

2. Two Tablespoons of Spicy Mayonnaise (200 cals.):
Mayo Mr. & Mrs. Mayo
3. One Can of corn (70 cals.)
corn

4. One Tomato - diced (10 cals.):

tomatoe

5. One Green or Red Bell Pepper - Sliced (<30 cals.):
pepper

6. Two slices toasted Fibre Bread, I prefer pre-toasted(140 cals.):
bread

Lunch Preparation: Open and drain the tuna and corn cans. use a fork to empty the tuna into a bowl, and flake it. Add 1 tablespoon spicy mayonnaise, and mix. Add the corn, diced tomatoes, and sliced peppers, then the second tablespoon of mayo, and mix again. Serve with the toasted bread.

English Variation - Alternate Lunch - more fiber, less calories (300 cals.):
Replace Tuna/Mayo/Corn with one can of Baked Beans in Tomato Sauce.
beans
The British delicacy also favored by convicts and soldiers all over the world

Alternate Lunch Preparation: Microwave Heat Beans, add hot sauce, sliced tomatoe, and pepper, and chow down with the toasted bread. Who said prison life is tough ?

Dinner 9-10PM(100 cals.):
1 Pink Grapefruit (100 cals.):
grapefruit

In-between Snacks:
Celery, cucumbers, you know the drill.

Daily Supplement
: 1 MultiVitamin pill
centrum

Beverages: Only water
water

Excercise: Walk 45 minutes, or Run 25 minutes daily.

Note to Jordanians attempting this diet: “Goody” brand Tuna tastes horrible, so stick with the maxim brand. The same can be said for “Goody” spicy Mayonnaise, stick with Mazola.

Update (22-Sept): After 1 week on the diet, I lost 4Kgs. 3 weeks to go !

Tala, all month ! When you’re hungry, it won’t matter so much :)

Pickles would be nice, and not too many olives. I used to do it with light mayonnaise, but it just tastes horrible. Even with real mayonnaise, its still under 1000 cals. so its effective. Supposedly, we spend that much energy just breathing !!!

Wasim, I am formulating an action plan for post-ramadan.
Including how to deal with potential dangers:

- Prepare comebacks for when mom and/or relatives try to stuff food down my throat. I must do this politely as I love these people !
- Restrict eating out to once every 2 weeks. (The night shift will help)
- Maintain the ban on all none-water beverages until further notice. (No Cade, No Miranda, No santa clause)
- Maintain a comprehensive list of banned substances (Chocolate, Knafeh, Cake, Qatayef, oh and any happiness related chemical receptors).

More measures will be enacted as I rally my emergency responsiveness forces. We are at war !

Tim,

Not at all, OJ isn’t harmful, but water (preferably Nestle) is just my preferance. No aftertaste, no acidity, no gas, ready to be absorbed, and won’t leave you thirsty afterwards.

Edit: just found out Tim is my colleague Hatim (ah nicknames) !

If you are trying to loose weight or maintain your current one, you don’t have to deprive yourself from anything, including junk food.. Simply watch the quantity of what you eat, exercise is a must five times a week.. I followed this plan and it worked perfectly,I lost 25 pounds and been able to keep them off.. I was looking for something that I can embrace as a life habit and not for a certain period of time..Baning knafeh, qatayef is out of the question :)

Noura, I don’t trust myself to limit the quantities yet. I’m the donkey chasing the carrot hanging from a stick, and at the same time I’m the guy holding the stick trying to motivate the donkey to run after the carrot. I’m the fox guarding the hen-house. I’m running out of analogies !

Wleee. You’ll be dead in a week. Then again, I survive on a diet of nescafe, espresso, perculated coffee, tea and Turkish coffee, all without sugar, all without milk or cream. For a change, I drink water. And when I feel like I’m gonna faint, I go hunting for chocolate. And I’m still alive. So who knows, your plan might work :D

VA, I’m a capricorn 17-Jan, and I’ve been on this diet since Saturday, so that’s 4 days so far, I’m not gonna look at the scale until a month later, that is assuming I survive :)

Hala, the honor is all mine.
